Why We Are Building Serava
The story behind creating a travel workspace that actually works.

Here's the thing about travel, we all love it, but planning it? That's a different story entirely.
Our team is scattered across the globe. We've got folks in Copenhagen, London, Singapore, Alicante, Taipei, Sweden and beyond. We're constantly moving, exploring, and yes, dealing with the absolute chaos that is modern travel planning. And honestly? We are all pretty fed up with it.

"Every trip feels like a part-time job. We are spending more time organizing than actually traveling."
The "Aha" Moment
As a team of multinational and multicultural individuals, travel is woven into the fabric of our lives. It's a beautiful consequence of having friends, family, and professional ties scattered across the globe. Yet, each journey is marked by a familiar and frustrating pattern of disarray. One team member would be battling a dozen open tabs to find a reasonably priced flight, another would be digging through a chaotic inbox for a single booking confirmation, and yet another would be trying to coordinate a simple group meetup through a hopelessly cluttered chat thread.

From our different corners of the world, a common thought echoed among us: "There has to be a better way." We found ourselves collectively waiting for a solution to emerge, a tool that could finally tame the beautiful mess of modern travel. So, we brainstormed on late-night video calls, sketch out dream features on Google Docs, and bond over our shared travel-planning woes.
The true "aha" moment wasn't a single spark but a slow, collective realization. The seamless solution we were all waiting for wasn't on its way, because if we (a group of tech-savvy people who travel constantly) were struggling so much, then who else could build it? We realized it was up to us. We had to stop waiting and start building. It was time to get our hands dirty and create the very tool we so desperately needed. This was the moment Serava was born.
Building Our BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal)

So we started dreaming big. What if there was actually one place where you could plan, book, and manage everything? Not just another booking site, but a proper workspace where you and your travel buddies could collaborate without wanting to throw your phones out the window.
We called it Serava – from the Sanskrit "Sarva" meaning "all" or "complete." Because honestly, we were tired of having 47 different apps just to plan a weekend getaway.
The Reality Check

We started talking to everyone – friends, family, random people at airports (yes, really). Turns out, we weren't alone in our frustration. Students are juggling study abroad programs with weekend trips. Digital nomads are drowning in booking confirmations. Families are having meltdowns trying to coordinate vacations.
The problems are everywhere: too many apps, zero collaboration, no single source of truth, and planning that felt more like work than fun. We realized we weren't just building for ourselves – we were building for millions of people who shared our pain.
What We're Actually Building:
- • Intelligent planning that learns what you actually like
- • Real collaboration tools (not just shared Google Docs)
- • One beautiful interface for everything travel-related
- • AI that handles the boring stuff so you can focus on the fun stuff
Where We're Headed
Look, we’re not here to reinvent travel for the sake of it. At the heart of Serava is a simple goal: to make all those little travel admin headaches fade into the background. The world is more connected than ever, remote work is freeing us from our desks, and people are prioritizing experiences over stuff. But the tools? They're still stuck in 2005.
Serava is our bet on the future: smart, collaborative, and actually enjoyable travel planning. Where AI handles the tedious bits, humans focus on creating memories, and technology just works in the background.
We're building this because we need it. Our team needs it. And based on every conversation we've had, you probably need it too.
